What is Spooksfest?

York is one of the UK's most historic cities, a place where you truly can feel transported into the past. Walking through the winding snickleways, hearing feet on cobbled streets and smelling the rich odour of old stone, it is not surprising that this atmospheric location has been deemed "Europe's Most Haunted City".

Many stories have been told over the years about York's ghostly inhabitants as well as many other strange going's on. To celebrate these incredible and often terrifying experiences, In the Company of Ghosts has teamed up with Visit York, to offer a festival of fun, fear and fantastic entertainment!

Spooksfest is not just about ghosts, but all things that go bump in the night! In order to cater for all interests from the wierd to the wonderful, we will be offering events, talks, workshops and walks, as well as many other activities over the weekend.

Spooksfest is about celebrating all things spooky, we therefore want you to enjoy visiting this incredible city, and have a fun and relaxing time. We want everyone to take part and you will find a range of events and activities to suit all ages.
